“I quite like the transitions of being an actor, because you get to explore these little pockets of life. So if you’re playing a builder you get to know about building, if you’re playing a scientist or a physician or something you get to know about physics. My hope is that the eight-year-olds who watch it, I’ll be their first Doctor. I hope they haven’t seen any DVD’s of anybody else. I loved playing him, and I loved taking part in the basic essence and message of the series, which is “It’s a short life, seize it and live it as fully as you can. Care for others, and be respectful of all other lifeforms, regardless of color and creed”, and to be part of that is fantastic.
